Day 01: Danang Arrival

Upon arrival at Da Nang International Airport, your guide and driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Hoian. Once you check into your hotel, the rest of the time is at your leisure.

Day 02: Hoi An - Walking Tour
From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab traders. These people came primarily to trade in the high-grade silk, which is still produced in the area, as well as ceramics. Today, Hoi An is a quaint riverside town, popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, tailor’s shops, and numerous cafes. Some of the buildings in the narrow streets have remained unchanged for more than a century.

In the afternoon you will enjoy a walking tour to explore the narrow winding streets and major sites of the Ancient Quarter of Hoi An town. We will visit Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200 year old Tam Ky Ancestral House and the famous Japanese covered bridge. The afternoon is at leisure to immerse yourself in the calming mood of this unique town.

Day 03: Hoi An
Hoi An is also famous for its clothing and shoe tailors. Everything is made with high quality fabrics at very reasonable prices. Bring your own designs or have something beautiful created just for you!

Day 04: Hoi An – Danang – Saigon
You will be transferred to Danang airport for your afternoon flight to Vietnam’s bustling metropolis, Saigon. Upon arrival your dedicated guide and driver will welcome you at the airport and escort you to your hotel.

Day 05: Saigon Half Day City Tour
Your personal guide and driver will meet you at your hotel at 8.30 am where you will explore Vietnam’s most populous city visiting the Reunification Palace, one of the most important buildings in the city. It was here that the Vietnam War officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was the Presidential residence.
Visit the thought provoking War Remnants Museum and see the deeply moving Requiem exhibit. See touches of French colonial architecture when you travel to the Notre Dome Cathedral and the Old Post Office.
After lunch, your exploration continues with a visit and shopping at the very popular Ben Thanh markets.

Day 06: Saigon – Mekong Cruise on Marguerite Cruise
Get transferred by taxi to Sofitel Saigon Plaza Hotel to register between 11:00 to 12:00. Transfer overland will be by motor coach to My Tho port for embarkation aboard the Indochina Sails’ ship for your journey from the Mekong Delta to Holy Angkor. Embarkation will be at 13:30. Welcome drinks will be served in the Saigon Lounge. There will be a short briefing before adjourning for lunch in the Mekong restaurant. The cabins will be ready for check-in after lunch. After port clearance formalities, captain will raise the anchor and cruises towards Cai Be. Join the Cruise Director in the Saigon Lounge for a safety demonstration and briefing at 18:00, followed by Captain’s Cocktails. Enjoy the first gourmet dinner onboard with fellow travellers. Enjoy folk performances of the Mekong Delta from 21:00 to 21:45 in the Saigon Lounge The ship moors overnight midstream at Cai Be.

Day 07: Cai Be – Vinh Long
After breakfast take a morning junk trip around Cai Be. See the floating market, go ashore to visit French Gothic Cathedral and colorful port area, filled with colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens and local rice paper manufacturers. Return to the boat at noon. Enjoy lunch while the ship sails toward Vinh Long – the second largest city on the Mekong Delta. In the afternoon, take a short boat ride to go ashore for a walking tour of Vinh Long and visit a bustling market. Return to the ship at 17:00. Cocktails and a briefing with the Cruise Director will be at 18:00. After dinner, the ship sails to Sadec and arrives Sadec around 23:00. The ship moors overnight midstream at Sadec.

Day 08: Sa Dec – Tan Chau
This morning, follow your guide to the hometown of Marguerite Duras’ lover, Sadec, a quaint little city. Visit the old house of Huynh Thuy Le, partake in the bartering of local markets along the paved river banks, pagoda and the Fujian Temple, built and donated to the city by the late Le family. Pass by the home of Marguerite Duras from across the riverbanks. Re-board the ship at 11:00 for lunch and then the ship sets sail to Tan Chau. In the afternoon, Vietnamese tour guides will give a lecture about Vietnam – the Past and the Present in the Saigon Lounge at 16:00. Cocktails and briefing at 18:00 followed by dinner at 19:00. Ship arrives at Tan Chau around 18:30. After dinner, join the crew show in the Saigon Lounge. There will be more music and more dancing afterwards. Tonight the ship moors midstream at Tan Chau.

Day 09: Tan Chau - Border Crossing
Today’s highlight is a visit of Tan Chau – a small town untouched by tourism. In the morning, the excursion starts with sightseeing by local boats, navigating narrow channels to visit an evergreen island. There is a chance to visit floating fish farm and travel along the tiny tributaries where slit houses are haphazardly leaning on each other. Afterwards, go ashore and tour the town on rickshaw (XeLoi). Visit rattan mats and slipper making factories. Return to the ship and enjoy lunch while the ship departs for the border. In the afternoon, enjoy Fruit Carving and Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls demonstration by our Executive Chef in the Saigon Lounge. Border formalities are carried out concurrently. Cocktail hour will be from 18:00 – 19:00, dinner at 19:00. After dinner watch the movie “The Killing Fields” in the Saigon Lounge. In the evening, we will sail overnight up the broad Mekong River, an international shipping route and moor mid-stream just outside of Phnom Penh.

Day 10: Phnom Penh
Today is a busy day with many interesting sightseeing and activities. In the morning, we will enjoy sightseeing in Phnom Penh by bus with a visit to the Royal Palace, the spectacular Silver Pagoda and the National Museum where outstanding Khmer crafts are exhibited. The afternoon excursion facilitates understanding of a crucial part of Cambodia’s history: the Khmer Rouge’s grim ToulSleng (S21 detention center) and the Killing Fields. Cocktail hours are served from 18:00 to 19:00. Dinner is served from 19:30 to 21:00. After dinner, join the Khmer folk dances and songs at the Saigon Lounge. Before midnight, opt to chill in one the bars located across the road from the pier.

Day 11: Chong Koh – Oudong – Kampong Tralach
Early in the morning the ship sails towards little known village Chong Koh. After breakfast, take a leisurely morning stroll through Chong Koh silk weaving village. Visit a school, some home workshops manufacturing traditional silk and cotton handicrafts and buy some local products. Return to the ship at 10:00.Enjoy a hearty lunch onboard at 12:30 as the ship sails to Prek K’dam. Our interesting afternoon tour starts with a bus ride to visit Oudong – the second capital city of Cambodia. Visit a Buddhist Center here and join a blessing. After that, take another bus ride to Kampong Tralach, see Kampong TralachPleu temple and take a 20-minute ox-cart ride back to the ship. Re-board the ship in Kampong Tralach. The ship then sails to Kampong Chhnang. Cocktail hour from 18:00 to 19:00, dinner is served at 19:00. After dinner, join your fellow passengers in the Saigon Lounge with the Cruise Director for a “Nasty Quiz” night. Ship arrives at Kampong Chhnangaround 23:00 and moors midstream overnight.

Day 12: Kampong Chhnang – Prek K’dam
Kampong Chhnang is a busy rural port town with bustling markets. Mooring mid-stream, take a truly wonderful motorboat excursion into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the river. Here a stunning variety of birdlife may be seen, and of considerable interest are local lifestyle and floating villages. Return to the boat and head off towards Tonle Lake.
The great lake dominates Cambodia and is over 150 km in length. Here bird life is profuse, and from the middle of the lake one cannot even see the shore. There is a great stillness and tranquility as the boat sails past floating fishing villages.
Tonight will be a farewell Cocktail party this evening. The ship moors overnight near Siem Reap.

Day 13: Disembarkation – Prek K’dam
Bid farewell to the crew and guides and disembark around 8:30 and take a motorised boat to a local jetty approximately 5 to 6 km away from the middle of the lake. Transfer by motor coach to Le Meridien Angkor Hotel. Arrive at hotel at 10:00.
You will then be transferred to your hotel in Siem Reap for check in. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 14: Siem Reap - Angkor Temples
Today is something very special! You will start with an early morning Tuk Tuk ride to the jungle-covered temple of Ta Phrom. Being amongst the ruins in the early morning is quite surreal and magical.
We return to the hotel for breakfast and once refreshed we drive to visit Angkor Wat Temple, the biggest religious temple in the world. Angkor Wat was built by Suryavarman II in the early 12th century and is considered a masterpiece of Khmer architecture.
This afternoon, you will visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom. Here the enigmatic faces of the Bayon temple together with the intricate bas reliefs of the Terrace of the Elephants you will not disappoint you. Keep your camera fully charged to photograph the many of the fabulous monuments

Day 15: Siem Reap – Kbal Spean – Banteay Srei
Today you will enjoy a trip through the countryside and villages to visit the 1000 lingas in Kbal Spean National Park. After lunch, we continue to visit the most beautiful temple of Banteay Srey. Built in 967 AD by Jayavarman V’s guru, it showcases the most exquisite, deep and complex carvings in all Khmer architecture
On the way back enjoy a dramatic sunset at Pre Rup.

Day 16: Siem Reap – Luang Prabang
Take the afternoon flight to Luang Prabang. On arrival, your dedicated guide and driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. You have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure.

Day 17: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves
After breakfast, you will take a cruise along a Mekong River to the spectacular Pak Ou Caves. Here gold-lacquered Buddha statues of all shapes and sizes nestle deep in the limestone caverns. Embark on a cultural tour of Luang Prabang in the afternoon, exploring the gilded temples such as Wat Mai, Wat Sensoukarahm and Wat Xieng Thong all dotted across the beautiful city.
Before sunset, ascend the 328 steps to the top of Phou Si Mountain that offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding rivers and cityscape before wandering through the bustling night Market for traditional textiles and handicrafts made by the hill tribes.

Day 18: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Waterfall
This morning you will have the chance to observe long the rows of monks in saffron robes collecting alms from the locals at dawn. This is an incredible sight and something not to be missed. After breakfast, gain a deeper understanding of Lao culture at Wat Visoun with its iconic Watermelon Stupa and Wat Aham with the altar of Luang Prabang’s two respected geniuses. At Kuang Si Waterfalls, you enjoy a spectacular view of water cascading into the clear turquoise pools at its foot. Bring your swimming gear to cool off in the pristine waters. It is just gorgeous!
You will then head back to town and are free for the rest of the afternoon.

Day 19: Luang Prabang – Pakse. Boloven Plateau
After breakfast, you will take a morning flight to Pakse. Upon arrival, we will drive to Tateng and onto view the he impressive Tad Fane twin falls that thunder over 100 metres down the steep cliffs into a gorge.   The scenic rainforest is part of a large national park where wild animals live, including leopards, tigers, elephants and monkeys. Hornbills are among the 300 bird species found in this area.
Our adventure continues to the Boloven Plateau where coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas and other crops are cultivated in this fertile region of southern Laos. Enjoy a stop at a tea plantation and savour a cup of freshly brewed green tea – so pure, so delicious!
We will return to Pakse late in the evening.

Day 20: Pakse – Champasak – Vat Phou
After meeting at Sinouk Coffee House in Pakse town in the morning, you will be transferred to a long-tail boat to Champasak. Upon arrival aboard Vat Phou cruise, you will be welcomed with a cooling drink, followed by lunch. The highlight this afternoon is a visit to Vat Phou ruins; the majestic pre-Angkorian 10th century temple complex and a World Heritage Site. You are then transferred back to the boat to enjoy the tropical sunset on the deck. Your delicious dinner is served on board. The boat docks for a night at Ban Muang town.

Day 21: Huei Thamo – Oum Muong Temple – Khong Island
Today, you will continue the cruise to Huei Thamo village to visit a mysterious hidden forest temple called ‘Oum Muong’. Then, you will cruise southwards passing the wild paradise of ‘4,000 Islands’. Your lunch is served on board. You will then stop at Ban Deua Tia where you can observe a simple way of life in this small Laotian village. Return to the boat for dinner. Tonight, the boat docks at Ban Deua Tia.

Day 22: Don Khone – Pha Pheng Waterfall – Pakse
The boat leaves Ban Deua Tia early in the morning and stop at Ban Veuthong where you are transferred to a small boat to Khone Island. You will visit the old French railway and walk across a bridge which links Khone Island and Det Island. You are then transferred to the mainland by a small boat for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant in the fishing village of Xieng Di. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Pha Pheng waterfall, also known as ‘The Niagara of The East’ and the largest waterfall in South East Asia.

Day 23: Pakse – Vientiane
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for the short flight to Vientiane, the charming capital of Laos. On arrival your dedicated guide and driver will meet you. Enjoy a guided tour of Vientiane and discover the hidden charm whose name means ‘the city of sandal wood’. Vientiane is one of the quietest capitals in the world, far different away from the bustle and hustle of other Asian cities.
Your tour begins at the serene Wat Sisaket, the only temple left intact after the Siamese (Thai) invasion in 1828. Continue on to the nearby Wat Phra Keo, Wat Phra Keo that displays a collection of both Lao and Khmer works of art. We also visit Wat Simuang, which is the most popular and venerated temple in Vientiane, as it is considered the guardian of the spirit of the city. Later, we continue to visit the great golden That Luang Stupa, the symbol of Laos for centuries before we visit the Victory Gate of Laos, a copy of Arc De Triumphe in Paris. The climb to the top is well worth the expansive view of this charming city.

Day 24: Vientiane Departure
You are free at leisure until get transferred to the airport for departure flight. Safe travels!
